The Sturt Pea is one of Australia's nine magnificent floral emblems. The floral emblem of South Australia, the Sturt Pea was first collected by seafarer William Dampier from Rosemary Island in the Dampier Archipelago off the coast of Western Australia in 1699. The original specimen is held at the Sherardian Herbarium in Oxford, England.
